What we collect, and how to get it deleted

Plain language, not legal boilerplate. If something here is unclear, that’s worth telling us — email [email protected].

Who's responsible for this

Ranti is the data controller for what guests share at an event — photos, videos, RSVPs, guestbook messages. A host sets up an event and invites people to it; Ranti stores and shows what gets shared there. If you’re a host, you’re also making your own decisions about your event (who can join, whether uploads need your approval) — Ranti processes that on your behalf.

What we collect

  • From hosts: your email (to sign in — no password, ever), and whatever you enter about your event (name, date, venue, description).
  • From guests: the photos and videos you choose to upload, an optional name you type in, and — only if you RSVP — your name and, optionally, an email or phone number.
  • From anyone browsing a gallery: nothing beyond what your browser always sends a website (standard server logs). No tracking cookies, no analytics that follow you elsewhere.

Why we collect it

To run the event page you were invited to: show the gallery, record who’s coming, carry guestbook messages to the host, and — once there’s enough shared — put together the memory of the day. Nothing here is used for advertising, and nothing is sold to anyone.

How long we keep it

Photos and videos are kept for 3 months after the event ends, then deleted automatically — for good, bytes and all, not just hidden. (We’re building a way for a host to pay to keep their event’s media for longer — not available yet, this page will say so the moment it is.) You don’t have to wait for the 3 months either: you can delete your own contribution any time, and a host can delete their whole event (which removes everything — every photo, every message, permanently) whenever they choose.

Your rights, and how to use them

  • Delete something you uploaded yourself — any time, no need to ask anyone. Find it under “What you shared” on the event’s gallery page and remove it directly.
  • Ask us to remove a photo of you, even one you didn’t upload — every photo has a report option, or email us directly and we’ll deal with it.
  • Ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to delete all of it. Email [email protected] — we’ll respond directly, there’s no self-serve export yet.
  • A photo of a child — if you’re a parent or guardian and want a photo of someone under 18 taken down, email us and it comes down without argument, no questions asked beyond confirming who you are.

How it's kept safe

Every connection to the site is encrypted (HTTPS). Photos and videos live in cloud storage behind addresses that are long, random, and never listed anywhere — nobody can browse or guess their way into a gallery; you need the actual link a host or guest shared with you.

Where this runs

The application runs on a server in Germany; media storage runs on Cloudflare’s global network. If you’re in Nigeria, that means your data does briefly leave the country to be processed — the same is true of most cloud software.

Questions or requests

Email [email protected] for anything on this page — access, deletion, a photo taken down, or just a question. A person reads it and replies.
